Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday directed officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan to enhance government revenue by effectively utilising the state’s available resources, with a special focus on attracting investments and increasing the value of government assets.
He emphasized the need to implement the HILT Policy effectively and develop tourism as a major revenue-generating sector. The directions were issued during a high-level review meeting on resource mobilisation held at the Telangana Secretariat. Civil Supplies and Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju and senior officials from various departments attended the meeting.
Addressing the officials, Mr. Bhatti stressed the importance of strengthening Telangana’s economy through the optimal utilisation of government lands, creating an investor-friendly ecosystem, and encouraging private sector participation in tourism development. He called for the identification of new revenue streams and instructed departments to accelerate initiatives that can attract investments and generate higher returns for the State. He also urged all departments to work in coordination to maximise financial benefits from government-owned assets and lands.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed officials to fast-track approvals under the HILT Policy, particularly for park-related proposals that have no pending objections. He asked departments to ensure that revenues due to the government are mobilised without delay. Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju suggested organising roadshows led by ministers across six designated parks to create greater awareness among industries about the opportunities available under the HILT Policy.
Tourism was identified as a major focus area for future revenue growth. Officials informed the meeting that investment opportunities showcased earlier had attracted proposals worth nearly ₹30,000 crore. In response, Mr. Bhatti instructed officials to prepare 70 to 80 Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) highlighting tourism investment opportunities across Telangana. These proposals will be presented to domestic and international investors during the upcoming Global Summit.
Special attention was also given to developing heritage and wildlife tourism. Officials informed the meeting that bids had been invited for the development of 11 forts under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The Deputy CM directed the immediate rollout of Tiger Tourism initiatives, while Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy suggested exploring the tourism potential of the Nizam Guest House at Nizamsagar.
The Deputy Chief Minister further directed officials to expedite the establishment of caravan parks in three identified districts and conduct field-level reviews of major tourism projects.
