The Telangana State Commission for Women has sought detailed reports from the Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Medchal Malkajgiri Police Commissioners on illegal human egg collection racket and exploitation of economically vulnerable women by organised gangs in Saroornagar and Begumpet.

In a letter dated November 1, the Commission directed the three police Commissioners to submit a comprehensive action-taken report by Tuesday (November 3, 2026), taking note of media reports about the arrest of gangs allegedly involved in collecting human eggs from women in the two areas.

The Commission expressed concern over reports that organised gangs allegedly recruited women from Telangana and other States by offering monetary incentives, exploiting their financial difficulties and transporting them to undisclosed locations. The women were administered hormonal injections and subjected to medical procedures for collection of human eggs, potentially putting their physical and reproductive health at risk.

It also flagged concerns over the possible trafficking and illegal confinement of women, besides violations of their rights, dignity and safety.

The Commission has asked the police to furnish details of the incidents, cases registered and action taken against the accused, agents and other persons allegedly involved in the racket. It has also sought information on the number of women rescued and their present whereabouts, including details of shelter, medical assistance, counselling, protection and rehabilitation provided to them.

Further, the police have been asked to provide details of investigations into the possible involvement of hospitals, fertility centres, medical practitioners and other persons, and steps taken to identify other women who may have been affected.
