Thailand opens first AI expo - NHKニュース
Thailand has kicked off its first artificial intelligence exhibition. Its highlights include the latest AI technology developed by Thai companies.
The four-day event opened on Thursday in Nonthaburi Province near the capital Bangkok, with about 100 businesses and universities taking part.
A company called iApp Technology is showcasing a model used for services such as conversational AI specially adapted for the Thai language. It processes data entirely within the country. This could help Thailand reduce its dependence on the United States and China, which are the current leaders in AI development.
Kobkrit Viriyayudhakorn, the company's CEO, said, "The model for the United States and China cannot understand Thai documentation very well," and added that“we need to develop our own model to be able to work on it."
The expo also features a robot designed to harvest rubber from trees, as well as technology that uses AI to generate movies.
