Shooter Rudrankksh Patil, who won medals at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, was received by the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) at an event on Monday (September 28, 2026). The TMC Sports Department organised the event at Dharmaveer Anand Dighe Thane Entry Gate in Anandnagar. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Mayor Sharmila Pimpalolkar spoke at the event.
In an interaction with The Hindu, Patil said he felt satisfaction with what he did at the Asian Games. He added that preparation had not gone as planned. The year had seen ups and downs, he noted. The team had aimed for the Asian Games since the previous year. He had finished in fourth place at the Asian Games before this one and wanted to improve that result. He and the coach had put in work, faith, and belief, and that paid off in the moment, he said.
Patil won bronze in the Men’s 10m Air Rifle event. He partnered with Himanshu Dhillon and Parth Mane, and together they won silver for India in the Men’s 10m Air Rifle Team event. He also won silver in the team event of the Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions.
Mayor Sharmila Pimpalolkar welcomed Patil with a bouquet. She said Patil’s marksmanship brought pride to Thane and to the country. She added that Patil’s success on stages outside India serves as motivation for athletes in Thane. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said Patil had performed well and wished him future success.
Before the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Patil won gold in 10m Air Rifle at the 2022 World Shooting Championships.
