The Blue Jays could use a hand from Trey Yesavage for final AL wild-card push, and just might get it - Toronto Star

It’s been a race against the clock as the Jays scramble for the third wild card with 12 games left.

 Blue Jay Trey Yesavage, about a month removed from knee surgery, might need just one more rehab start before returning to the majors.

A bullpen, some fielding drills and perhaps just one (1) rehab game away from restoration to the pitching cadre.

Trey Yesavage must have amazing healing powers. Thirty-three days after left knee meniscus surgery in Dallas, the quite sturdy Blue Jays right-hander was comfortably tossing off a 30-pitch side session Sunday morning at the Rogers Centre, followed by brisk pitcher fielding practice off the mound. Certainly looked like he’s primed for a return to the mother ship.

Which, if all the stars align, could see the 23-year-old who was such a key component to Toronto’s playoff rodeo in 2025 reinstated to the rotation next Monday, with the Jays in Baltimore.

“Feels totally normally, like nothing every happened,” Yesavage told the Star after Sunday’s 8-1 win over the Orioles. “It wasn’t invasive surgery, one hole in the knee. Just scoped and I was walking out of the hospital.”
