The good, the bad and the ugly from Broncos’ win over Jaguars - Broncos Wire

The Denver Broncos bounced back from their ugly season-opening loss to the Kansas City Chiefs with what feels like a massive victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Broncos earned a 20-13 win on Sunday to even their record at 1-1.

In the process, the Broncos got a bit of revenge against the Jaguars, who came into Denver and ended the team's 11-game winning streak last season. With Sunday's revenge, the Broncos handed the Jags their first regular-season loss since last November.

Let's take a closer look at what went down in this game and point out what was good, what was bad and what was even worse. Every game usually has things that fall into each of these categories, and the Broncos certainly did on Sunday.

Jaylen Waddle: The Broncos did a great job of working Jaylen Waddle into the offense on Sunday. That might be the No. 1 takeaway from this game. After a disappointing performance against the Chiefs in which he caught one pass for two yards, Waddle caught eight passes for 138 yards in this game to pace the Broncos.

This is what the team made the big trade to get him for.

Jonah Coleman: J.K. Dobbins left this game with a hamstring injury, but the team's fourth-round pick, already on alert for this game with RJ Harvey out, looked fantastic. Coleman carried the ball 10 times for 39 yards, picking up big yards to help keep the Broncos in control in the late stages of the game while also scoring his first career touchdown.

Coleman is Denver's future RB1, likely in the not-too-distant future.

Riley Moss: Teams keep trying Riley Moss and he keeps coming up big more often than not. Moss had a game-changing interception late in the third quarter that the Broncos turned into points and he should have had another in the fourth.

Davis Webb: There were many people calling for coach Sean Payton to take the playcalling duties away from Davis Webb after Week 1, but it's a good thing he didn't rush to that judgment. Payton had good things to say about his offensive coordinator after the game, as he called a great game for the Broncos.

Another slow start: This is definitely getting frustrating for Broncos fans, as this trend seems to have carried over from last season. The offense wasn't able to get much going through the first three quarters of this game, scoring just six points before putting 14 points on the board in the fourth.

Penalties: The Broncos were a team that displayed a serious penalty issue in the preseason, and that ugly trend has carried over as well. The Broncos were penalized 10 times in this game while the Jaguars were only flagged four times. This is something the team needs to get right before it goes too deep into the season.

There's something to be said about a quarterback trying to make a play, but this is ridiculous.

It's 3rd-and-goal with just over two minutes to go until halftime. Nix faces some pressure from Jacksonville and, while backpedaling, throws a ball up for grabs that is picked off in the end zone. We discussed this bad habit of Nix's this past week, and though sometimes it's hard, it's best to just eat a sack and live to fight another down (or in this case, settle for a short field goal).

Nix took points off the board with this poor decision, but he bounced back later in the game.
