Yoga guru Madhava Murthy called for simple, consistent changes to daily routines, stressing that information about healthy living is useful only when put into practice.

As part of the celebrations marking the 148th anniversary of The Hindu Group, which observes September 20 as its Foundation Day or ‘Values Day’, the group organised a talk on ‘Health & Wellness’ by Mr. Murthy, founder of Divine Yoga.

Drawing a parallel between the human body and products that come with instruction manuals, Mr. Murthy said the body also needs basic care and discipline. He advised employees to get around eight hours of proper sleep, drink enough water and exercise regularly.

Mr. Murthy also stressed the role of one’s attitude towards work in managing stress and fatigue. Enjoying one’s work, he said, could reduce the feeling of tiredness. He cited the example of a mother who works continuously for her family with love and care.

He highlighted yoga as a form of physical activity that could be practised by people of all age groups, from children to senior citizens. He also spoke about Indian traditions of respecting trees, animals, rivers and nature, saying they reflected values of inclusiveness and respect for all forms of life.

He urged participants to preserve the values passed down by earlier generations and carry them forward. While information on health and wellness is widely available today, he said, its real benefit lay in putting it into practice in daily life.

Senior DGM-Printing, P.V.S. Giridhar Rao thanked Mr. Murthy for the address and felicitated him with a memento.
