The Hindu in School Science Festival and Maths Olympiad 2026 (Ramanujam Spark Quest) will be held in Belagavi and Hubballi on September 18 and 19 respectively.
While the event in Belagavi will be held at KPTCL Samudaya Bhavana, Shivabasava Nagar Belagavi, the venue for the event in Hubballi is Hebasur Bhavan, near Bannigida Bus stop (Green Garden), Gokul Road.
The event features an inter-school competition to nurture scientific curiosity and mathematical talent among students. The event is also designed as a platform for students to come up with innovative ideas on science concepts to showcase their talent.
The competitions will begin at 9 a.m., and there is no entry fee. While the event at Belagavi is open to students from Belagavi district, the event in Hubballi is open to students from Dharwad and neighbouring districts.
Each team will consist of two students from classes 8 to 10, with every school allowed to register up to ten teams, five comprising class 8 students in the Junior Category and five comprising students of classes 9 and 10 in the Senior Category.
Individual participation is not permitted. Participation is only through prior registration through schools, and there will be no spot registration.
Teams must report at the venue by 8.30 a.m. on the day of the event and the students participating in the festival will have to demonstrate innovative, cost-effective working model projects under the βMake in Indiaβ concept.
Each school participating in the Ramanujam Spark Quest can nominate five students each from classes 8 to 10. Participants have to answer 50 questions in one hour and the total marks will be 200.
There will be 30 questions based on science (physics, chemistry and biology) and the remaining 20 questions will be related to mathematics and mental ability. Each question will have four options and students have to select and shade the correct option on the OMR sheet with a ballpoint pen.
Participants get four marks for every correct answer and one negative mark for every wrong answer. If two or more students have the same total score, the score in mathematics/mental ability will be used to break the tie.
In both competitions, the first three winners will receive a cash prize, trophies and merit certificates. Participation certificates will be issued to all participants.
