This popular retailer is extending its hours at some locations - USA Today

GameStop is extending store hours for some of its locations nationwide.

On Thursday, Sept. 24, the popular video game retailer announced on its social media pages that it would extend store hours at most of its strip center store locations.

"We decided to extend store hours to give our customers more options to visit a GameStop store in their area," Nicolle Robles, GameStop's director of communications, told USA TODAY.

Here's what to know about the change.

GameStop will initiate the new hours on Sunday, Sept. 27, according to the announcement.

No. Most of the stores that are located in strip centers, a type of shopping plaza, will have their hours changed, according to Robles. But the hours of GameStops located in shopping malls will not change and are dependent on the mall they are located in.

The change appears to make hours at strip centers nationwide uniform as they previously varied.

In its announcement on social media, the chain states that this change will take place "through the remainder of the year."

It also comes ahead of the holiday season. While it is temporary, it is a part of a pilot program that could become permanent depending on how well it does, according to Robles.
