This state is getting its first Buc-ee's. See where else they're going - USA Today

Buc-ee's plan to open its first location in Indiana has been approved.

After about 20 minutes of public comment, with most being in opposition of the proposal from the travel center chain, Greenwood city officials on Sept. 21 approved the plans, according to reporting from IndyStar, part of the USA TODAY Network.

Despite concerns about traffic and light pollution, only two council members voted against the proposal, according to IndyStar. Greenwood is a suburb of Indianapolis, located about 11 miles south of downtown.

The Buc-ee’s store is going to occupy about 37 acres and feature 120 gas pumps and electric vehicle charging stations. According to city documents, it would be about 74,000 square feet and is expected to employ between 175 and 225 people, earning about $40,000 to about $51,400 a year.

Buc-ee's opened its first Arkansas location in Benton on Aug. 17, continuing the beaver-branded travel center's expansion out of its Texas stomping grounds.

Additionally, Buc-ee's opened its first locations in Ohio and Arizona this year. In 2025, it opened its first location in Virginia and a year earlier, it debuted in Colorado. The company anticipates adding inaugural locations in Louisiana, Kansas and Wisconsin by the end of 2027.

Crissy Gonzales, Buc-ee's media coordinator, previously said in an email to USA TODAY that the Murfreesboro, Tennessee location will open on Nov. 16.
