This three-row Mahindra SUV scores 5 stars in Bharat NCAP crash test
The Mahindra XUV 7XO has secured a five-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP, scoring 30.76 points out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 44.97 points out of 49 for child occupant protection. The crash tests were conducted in 2026, with the tested SUV weighing 2,059kg.
The three-row SUV was assessed in frontal offset deformable barrier and side movable deformable barrier tests. In the frontal offset test, the XUV 7XO scored 14.76 points out of a possible 16, while it achieved a full 16 points in the side movable deformable barrier test. The fact sheet also records an ‘OK’ result for the side pole impact test.
For child occupant protection, the XUV 7XO scored 23.97 points out of 24 in the dynamic assessment and 12 out of 12 for child restraint system installation. The vehicle assessment contributed another 9 points out of a possible 13, taking the overall child protection score to 44.97 points.
The Bharat NCAP assessment covered the AX7 diesel automatic seven-seater and AX7L diesel automatic seven-seater configurations. The rating, however, applies to a wider range of XUV 7XO variants listed in the assessment's annexure. These include petrol and diesel versions with manual and automatic transmissions, along with the diesel automatic AWD variant.
The XUV 7XO comes with electronic stability control, side head protection in the form of curtain airbags, pedestrian protection and seat belt reminders as standard equipment across all variants. The fact sheet also lists frontal airbags, belt pretensioners and belt load-limiters as standard, while a knee airbag is not available as standard.
For child safety, ISOFIX mounts are standard for the relevant seating positions. The assessment also notes the availability of an airbag cut-off switch and child restraint compatibility across specified seating positions.
The XUV 7XO was assessed in July 2026 under the AIS-197 safety rating framework. The Bharat NCAP fact sheet states that the rating applies to the variants listed in its annexure and is intended to provide buyers with information on the vehicle's safety performance under standardised test conditions.
