Three held for death of senior citizen in Tirupattur

Three persons were arrested for the death of a senior citizen in Gangapuram village on Wednesday, over a dispute on parking of vehicles.

The police said the arrested persons were identified as K. Sasikumar, 27, T. Bharath, 27, and S. Nirmala, 47. They were residents of Ambur town.

Initial inquiry revealed that J. Sriram, 23, a neighbour, was waiting for his friend in front of the house when the suspect, Sasikumar parked his two-wheeler near Sriram’s house. Sriram objected to it.

The duo got into an argument while Sasikumar was joined by his relatives Bharath and Nirmala. The deceased person R. Devaraj, 60, Sriram’s grandfather, had tried to pacify the two groups. However, he was badly beaten up by the trio led by Sasikumar.

Family members rushed Devaraj to Government Taluk Hospital in Ambur town, where doctors said that he was brought dead. A case was registered by Ambur Town police. Three persons were arrested and lodged at Central Prison in Vellore. A probe is under way.
