Police investigate triple murder after Gugulethu shooting.

Western Cape police are investigating a triple murder following a shooting at the Z Memani Street in the KTC informal settlement in Gugulethu on Tuesday morning.

Police said Gugulethu SAPS responded to the scene at about 9:57am, where they found the bodies of three men.

"Police discovered the bodies of three males, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to their upper bodies and heads. All three victims were declared deceased at the scene," police said in a statement.

According to preliminary information, police said the three men may have been involved in an altercation with unknown suspects following an alleged robbery involving employees of a company installing fibre in the area.

Police stressed that this information forms part of the investigation and has not yet been confirmed.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the motive, remain unclear.

The investigation has been taken over by detectives from the Provincial Serious Violent Crime Unit.

The detectives are working to establish what led to the shooting and to identify those responsible for the deaths.

Police have not yet announced any arrests.

In another incident, police in Cape Town are investigating the deaths of three people following a shooting incident in Phumleni in Lingelethu-West. 

The shooting incident took place on Sunday, September 20. 

The Western Cape police spokesperson, Colonel Andrè Traut, said four people were shot during the shooting incident. 

“At approximately 10.20pm, police responded to a shooting at an informal dwelling in NB63, Phumleni. On arrival, members found four males with gunshot wounds inside the dwelling. Three victims, aged between 27 and 36, were declared deceased at the scene, while a 38-year-old male was transported to a medical facility for treatment,” Traut said.
