Three schoolgirls missing from Keralam’s Thrissur found in Alappuzha

CCTV checks revealed girls boarding the Ernad Express from the Thrissur railway station.

Three schoolgirls who went missing from Thrissur in Keralam during the lunch break at their school on Tuesday (September 22, 2026) were found safely within hours at the Alappuzha railway station following a coordinated search by the police and the railway authorities.

The girls, studying in Classes VIII, IX and X, were staying at a shelter home in Thrissur and attending the Model Girls Higher Secondary School, Thrissur. They reportedly left the school campus around 12.30 p.m. during the lunch break.

After the school authorities alerted the police, investigators examined CCTV footage from the area and the railway station. The footage showed the girls boarding the Ernad Express bound for Thiruvananthapuram.

The police continued to track the train as it crossed Ernakulam and alerted the police in Alappuzha and the railway authorities.

When the train reached the Alappuzha railway station, the three girls were located and taken to safety.

A case has been registered in connection with the incident, and further investigation is under way.
