Tiger Shroff firing case: Another accused arrested in Haryana, 13 caught so far
A 22-year-old woman has been arrested in Haryana's Karnal district in connection with the firing at actor Tiger Shroff's car in Mumbai, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 13, the Mumbai Crime Branch said on Monday.
The woman was arrested on Sunday with the help of Haryana Police after investigators established her alleged involvement in the organised gang's criminal activities, according to the Crime Branch. Further investigation is underway.
The case dates back to the evening of October 18, when two armed men riding motorcycles opened fire at Shroff's car in Juhu. The actor was leaving a football ground when the assailants fired five rounds at his vehicle. Shroff escaped largely unhurt, while his driver and a bystander, a vlogger, were injured.
Members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang later claimed responsibility for the firing. Police have also named Anil Pandit, an aide of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, as a wanted accused in the case.
The Mumbai Crime Branch took over the investigation and had earlier arrested 12 accused from Rajasthan's Kota, Delhi and Haryana's Sonipat. On October 27, police invoked provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the accused.
The investigation has focused on the alleged financial transactions linked to the firing and the role of the gang's members. The 12th accused, Amar Mundiya, was arrested in Sonipat and sent to six days of police custody until November 6.
Police told a special MCOCA court that Mundiya had allegedly transferred money from his bank account to other accused and sought his custody to trace the source of the funds and examine the digital applications used for the transactions.
With the latest arrest from Karnal, the number of accused arrested in the case has risen to 13. The Crime Branch is continuing its investigation into the firing and the network behind it.- Ends
