Timeline for Giants QB Jaxson Dart's return revealed after surgery 'went well' - Giants Wire
New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart underwent surgery last Friday to repair the torn meniscus he suffered in the Giants' loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 2.
The surgery not only repaired the meniscus tear but also addressed damage to his PCL and MCL. The ACL was not affected.
"I think it went well," Giants head coach John Harbaugh told reporters on Wednesday when probed about the surgery. "Have you ever heard the doctor tell you it didn't go well? Yeah, the doc said it went well.
"I think it was as expected. I think they saw what they thought they were going to see and just fixed it. The timeline doesn't really change too much."
Dart's return is estimated to be four to six months. That being said, Dart has been telling people he'll be back sooner, perhaps for the postseason, should the Giants qualify.
"I think he tweeted out he's going to be back for the playoffs. Did he put that out there? Maybe he just texted me that," Harbaugh said. "Oh (expletive). Oh no. That's news now, right?"
It's a little ambitious. Four months from the surgery date is December 25. That is five days before the Giants' Week 16 game against the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football.
No one expects Dart to be ready for that game or the final two games of the regular season: January 3 at Dallas and January 10 at home versus Philadelphia.
The wild card round is scheduled for January 16-18, with the divisionals the following week. The conference championships are scheduled for January 31, followed two weeks later by the Super Bowl on February 14.
Six months from Dart's surgery is February 25. He could be ready by then, or shortly before, but the question is whether the Giants have a game to play.
