Tinubu will win 2027 presidential election — Ondo senator - Punch Newspapers

The senator representing Ondo Central Senatorial District, Adeniyi Adegbonmire, has expressed optimism that President Bola Tinubu will win the February 20, 2027, presidential election. Adegbonmire said the post-primary internal crisis rocking the party in some states would not prevent the All Progressives Congress from winning the forthcoming general election, assuring that the crisis would have been resolved before the poll. The senator gave the assurance while speaking with journalists at the Akure Airport on Monday, where he was welcomed by hundreds of party members and supporters from the Central Senatorial District. He said, “So, we are going to win. In fact, we have no opposition. I can tell that for free. So, I have absolutely no fear at all. I don’t know about any aggrieved member that is in any coalition. I don’t know about it. I always tell people, nobody does anti-party; nobody has come out to say he wants to do anti-party. “When I won three years ago, there were aggrieved people. But I still won the election. So It’s natural there will be fallout out of the primaries. But at the end of the day, we will win as a party. We will work together in unity, and we will ensure that we are winning.”See more Punch stories on Google.Add Punch on Google According to him, Tinubu had performed well in the last three years of his administration, saying the APC presidential candidate had taken the country from the state of collapse, hence the need to re-elect him. “ You know, the reality of it is that except we are emotional about it, the facts are very well known. And I’ll give you just two facts. You know, I said to somebody a few days ago. Somebody who says he’s running for president said, I’m going to restore subsidies. I started to laugh. So, I asked the person a very simple question. Is it better for you not to be paid your salary for 10 months? And say, ” But I’m buying petrol. Or is it better for you to earn a salary, earn a better salary, and be able to buy that petrol? You need to choose. “So, it’s very simple. Before Asiwaju got there, there were states. Several states could not pay salaries and let’s look at those states for example. Now, our governor says he wants to have a bridge worth over a hundred and something billion naira. Can he do it before Asiwaju? No. So, we need to be practical about it and before you get to a situation where, as they say, you have the micro effect, you must also have the macro effect. If people cannot invest. If people are afraid to invest. If industries are not working. Then how do people have money in their pockets? Let’s be sincere. So, all of these things that they are talking about. It’s nonsensical as far as I’m concerned. The facts themselves show that Asiwaju has done excellently well. “You know, I keep telling people. When we got to power in 2023, Nigeria was technically bankrupt. Now, we have over $54 billion in foreign reserves. Somebody has achieved that in three years. It’s a record. So, let’s be factual. Let’s not be emotional,” he stated. Acknowledging the hardship across the country following the economic policies of the current administration, the federal lawmaker expressed hope that the policies introduced by the Tinubu administration would bring “light at the end of the tunnel”. Adegbonmire stressed, “I recognise the fact that people are going through hard times. But the reality of it is that this administration is trying to make Nigeria a better place. There would be problems. There would be challenges. But at the end of the day there is light at the end of the tunnel and that’s what Nigerians must understand. “Today, whether we like it or not. The days of queues are over. Is it not? Do you know that a few months ago, there were farmers who were complaining that the food items had gone down. That they were no longer making profit. So, you see, we need to balance things out and I want to say. Except we want to go back to the old dark days, I assure you. APC is the answer and that’s it. So, I have no doubt that APC will triumph. “By the way. There were elections on Saturday. APC won all the seats except one and that one was APM in Bauchi State because of the governor. The other states, we beat them, that tells you. What will happen in January and February. We will win. From President to House of Assembly. I can assure you that.
