The office-bearers of the Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) (TMC(M)) have empowered party president G.K. Vasan to take a call on the party’s position on the byelections to the Madurantakam and Dharapuram constituencies. A release from the party said Mr. Vasan held a meeting with district presidents and State-level office-bearers of the party. They empowered Mr. Vasan to decide whether to extend support to any formation. The party is likely to announce its position in two days. The TMC(M) was part of the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance in the 2026 Assembly elections.
On Saturday, the party also organised a meeting at its headquarters in Chennai on the topic ‘A change in politics after 60 years and what people think’. Mr. Vasan and other senior leaders of the party spoke at the meeting.
