JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) is strengthening its corporate governance implementation as part of efforts to face challenges in the cement industry, including overcapacity conditions and economic dynamics.

President Director of Semen Indonesia, Indrieffouny Indra, said governance is a crucial part of applying the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, especially to ensure the company’s operational activities run transparently and accountably.

β€œSIG always conducts its business operations adhering to the five principles of Good Corporate Governance (GCG), namely transparency, accountability, responsibility, independence, and fairness,” Indrieffouny stated in a written release on Monday (9/21/2026).

He explained that these principles are applied at every stage of operational activities. This approach is considered essential to maintain the company’s resilience amid increasingly intense competition in the cement industry due to overcapacity conditions.

β€œThis is demonstrated by the company’s ability to record performance growth and maintain profitability despite the overcapacity situation that has intensified business competition in the cement industry,” he added.

In its implementation, SIG established a Sustainability Committee in 2021. The committee is tasked with supporting the management and achievement of the company’s sustainability performance in a structured and integrated manner, including monitoring the implementation of sustainability agendas and targets outlined in the SIG Sustainability Roadmap 2030.

In addition to sustainability governance, the company also uses the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework to identify and manage risks and opportunities related to climate change.

This framework is part of the company’s efforts to strengthen risk management while enhancing transparency concerning the impact of climate change on business activities.
