According to a report by The Sunday Guardian, the woman, identified as Klementina, was sitting alone and looking down at her phone when Cruise walked past her. From the way she was sitting, the actor seemingly thought something was wrong and stopped to make sure she was okay.

A video of the unexpected encounter showed Cruise approaching Klementina and tapping her on the shoulder. He appeared to ask if everything was alright, leaving her visibly stunned. The two then exchanged a friendly fist bump before Cruise continued on his way.

Klementina later explained that she had actually been scrolling through her phone and was not upset. Her caption summed up the rather surreal situation: “When Tom Cruise thinks you’re in distress, he checks on you, but you were just doom scrolling and got the surprise of a lifetime.”

She also shared more about the encounter on TikTok, recalling that she was “in complete shock” when Cruise tapped her shoulder. She said she could barely process the fact that the person standing in front of her was actually Tom Cruise.

The actor wished her goodnight and walked away, but later returned, giving Klementina enough time to recover from the surprise and ask him for a photograph.

The sweet mix-up has since amused social media users, with many imagining how bizarre it would be to look up from a phone at work and find Tom Cruise checking whether you were okay.
