Guided wine-pairing sessions hosted by a chef, wine expert and featured producer are featured at the Tasting Room.

Next Saturday, the Pick n Pay Wine & Food Festival heads to its new home at Sugar Rush Park, Ballito, for a day of exceptional South African wine, delicious food, live entertainment and unforgettable experiences.

It's an opportunity to indulging in great food, learn from the experts or simply enjoying a day out with friends.

Discover approximately 50 of South Africa’s leading wine estates, with everything from elegant reds and crisp whites to award-winning rosés, plus an impressive selection of Cap Classique. For something a little different, explore the festival’s wine-based cocktails.

For a more intimate experience, the Tasting Room offers exclusive guided wine-pairing sessions hosted by a chef, wine expert and featured producer. Each session pairs exceptional wines with freshly prepared gourmet canapés, with just 40 seats available per session.

The Tasting Room offers the following tasting sessions: 12.30pm Survivor Wines, 1.30pm Hermanuspietersfontein, 2.30pm Journey's End Vinyards, 3.30pm Babylonstoren, and 4.30pm Anthonij Rupert Wyne. Tasting Room sessions are available as a R150 add-on to your ticket.

Learn how to make top wine-based cocktails in the Mixology Theatre.

The Mixology Theatre, presented by Diageo, is an interactive, hands-on cocktail-making class where you get to craft and enjoy two premium wine-based cocktails under the guidance of an expert mixologist while featuring some of Diageo’s most iconic premium spirit brands. Mixology Theatre sessions are available as a R150 add-on to your ticket.

When hunger strikes, the Food Market serves up everything from nutritious bowls and lamb dishes to sushi, vibrant salads, gourmet cheese and charcuterie boards, while the ever-popular burger and pizza trucks keep the crowd fed throughout the afternoon.

You can also add a pre-packed picnic to your ticket and settle in on the lawns with a delicious picnic, live music and the festival atmosphere. Each picnic bag serves two. Picnics are pre-ordered as an optional extra over and above your ticket.

Note that alcohol may only be consumed at the venue, and may not be taken off-site. Therefore, please do not purchase bottles of wine with the view of taking your purchases home. Alcohol will be confiscated at the event venue exit. Liked what you tasted? Order via Pick n Pay and schedule delivery for whenever you’re at home.

Festival is on October 3 from noon to 6pm. Tickets R350 from webtickets.

12pm: Pick n Pay Wine Club Member early access.

12.30pm: Tasting Room Experience runs on the half hour until 4.30pm.

The 50ml tasting portion reaches the tasting line that is clearly printed on your glass.
