Investigators allege there was an ‘organized, multi-level drug trafficking operation’ involving Toronto police officers.

One afternoon last December, investigators watched as veteran Toronto cop Timothy Barnhardt counted out $1,000 to allegedly buy product off a drug dealer.

A little more than an hour later, the constable was sitting inside his Jeep Wrangler with a co-worker from Toronto police’s 12 Division. He passed Const. Saurabjit Bedi a “chunk” of cocaine, for which the fellow officer e-transferred him $100, police allege.

But Bedi had his sights on more, according to police. That December 2025 evening, the officers were heard in a wiretapped phone conversation allegedly discussing the pricing and profit margins on a kilogram of cocaine.

“Let’s say if I get a brick in here,” Bedi is quoted as saying. “Can you sell it, can you move it for me?”

“Yeah, I can,” Barnhardt says. “How fast do you need it moved though?”

Details of what investigators allege was an “organized, multi-level drug trafficking operation” involving Toronto police officers can now be revealed by the Star as part of newly unsealed court records in the sprawling Project South corruption probe.
