Toufique Imrose Khalidi made important contributions to media professionalism: state minister
State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Toufique Imrose Khalidi, editor-in-chief of bdnews24.com.
In a condolence message on Friday, he prayed for the eternal peace of the departed.
In his condolence message, the state minister for information said: “Under the leadership of Toufique Imrose Khalidi, bdnews24.com played an important role in the development of online journalism in Bangladesh; it contributed to opening new horizons in digital media in the field of news presentation.
“Toufique Imrose Khalidi has made significant contributions to the practice of professionalism, media independence and information-based journalism throughout his long journalistic career.”
The state minister also said, “Toufique Imrose Khalidi’s contribution to the modernisation of Bangladesh’s media and the development of digital journalism will be remembered. His death is an irreparable loss to the country’s journalism sector.”
Khalidi was taken to a London hospital on Thursday night following a brain haemorrhage. He was pronounced dead at 2:23pm London time on Friday.
