Tumisho Masha has found himself in legal hot water.

As celebrities flooded the timeline to share images of their inked thumbs to show their participation in the 2026 local government election on Wednesday, Tumisho took to his social media, not only posting his thumb but also the alleged ballot paper revealing he voted for ActionSA.

“My mark has been made. ActionSA is the only party that knows how to fix Joburg.”

On Tuesday, IEC chairperson Mosotho Moepya said ballot papers must be marked in secret inside designated voting booths and that taking photographs of completed or marked ballot papers is strictly prohibited.

“The secrecy of every vote is a fundamental principle of South Africa’s democracy and must always be protected,” he said.

Tumisho shared his voting experience from his arrival at his voting station at Lyndhurst Primary School.

“It’s usually a bit too easy. There’s literally no line, no queues. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. I think it’s a good thing because obviously the people inside are incredibly efficient,” he said.

“Are people going to turn out as they should? Make sure that you vote if you’re eligible.”

When contacted for comment regarding the potential police investigation and potential criminal charges, Tumisho declined to comment.
