Turkcell signs 3G iPhone deal with Apple - Hürriyet

Apple rolled out the new iPhone, which offers faster Internet access and improved e-mail features, in more than 20 countries in July.

"We are very excited about the deal with Apple," Turkcell Vice General Manager Lale Saral Develioglu said in the statement. "We are looking forward to putting it on the market for our 35 million customers," she added.

Turkcell said that pricing and tariffs for the iPhone would be announced later.

Turkcell, which has 35.4 million total subscribers, controls 57 percent of the Turkish market, while the other two mobile operators, Vodafone and Avea have 26 percent and 17 percent respectively.

Although Vodafone started to sell iPhone 3G products in some of these ten countries, such as Australia, it has not yet released the product into the Turkish market.

A Vodofone representative familiar with the issue told Hurriyet English the Apple contract was subject to special conditions that prevented the company from launching the product in Turkey earlier.
