Türkiye plans to launch its own lunar vehicle in the first months of 2027 as part of the country's National Space Programme, Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır said.
Speaking to reporters at the 28th TÜBİTAK Sky Observation Event in Afyonkarahisar, Kacır said the launch schedule for the country's lunar mission had now been finalised and that all tests had been successfully completed.
Kacır said space technologies were a key part of Türkiye's National Technology Initiative and represented critical infrastructure for strategic sectors, including the defence industry.
He highlighted Türkiye's growing capabilities in satellite technologies, pointing to projects including BİLSAT, RASAT, GÖKTÜRK-2, Türksat 6A and İMECE.
The minister said Turkish engineers, researchers and scientists were continuing to develop the country's own lunar vehicle as part of the National Space Programme.
"Our lunar vehicle, equipped with our own hybrid propulsion rocket system, will be sent into space in the first months of 2027," Kacır said.
He described the mission as an important technological milestone for Türkiye, saying the country would acquire a capability that only a limited number of nations have been able to achieve.
