Two arrested after bike enters Vice-President’s convoy in Keralam capital

Two people have been arrested after a motorcycle allegedly entered the convoy of Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan near Kovalam during his visit to Thiruvananthapuram, Keralam, on Sunday (September 27, 2026).

The Kanjiramkulam police identified the accused as Ashkar and Nadirsha, both of whom hail from Vallakkadavu.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 4.30 p.m. while the Vice-President was returning to the airport after attending the graduation day ceremony of Sree Uthradom Thirunal (SUT) Academy of Medical Sciences at a convention centre in Balaramapuram.

The motorcycle, reportedly travelling from the Thiruvallam side towards Kovalam, approached the Vice-President’s convoy near Kovalam.

Security personnel made futile attempts to stop the motorcycle, as the riders allegedly entered the convoy and then fled the spot. Following information from security personnel, the police launched an inspection and traced the two men to Kanjiramkulam.

The Kanjiramkulam police subsequently arrested both men. The two were allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

An investigation into the incident is underway. The police are also examining the circumstances that led to the security lapse which allowed the motorcycle to approach the Vice-President’s convoy.
