Two bodies found in burning vehicles in Etobicoke, Scarborough as Toronto police notify homicide unit - Toronto Star
The bodies were discovered in the burned out vehicles overnight. Police say it's too early to determine if the fires are connected.
The causes of both incidents remain unknown and the homicide unit has been called to look into it, Toronto police said.
Toronto police are investigating the deaths of two people who were found in burning vehicles at opposite ends of the city overnight.
The first incident occurred at Reesor Road and Steeles Avenue East in Scarborough late Monday.
Police say they recieved reports about a vehicle fire at 11:24 p.m. after which police and fire crews arrived at the scene, discovering a body inside the car.
The second incident occurred at Royal York Road and Edenbridge Drive in James Gardens Park in Etobicoke.

Police received a call at 12:55 a.m. Tuesday about smoke coming from the park, followed by the sound of an explosion, investigators said. Soon after, police and fire crews both arrived on scene where a body was located inside a vehicle.
The causes of death in both incidents remain unknown and the homicide unit has been notified, police said.
Toronto police spokesperson Shannon Eames told the Star it’s too early in the investigation to determine whether the deaths are connected, but it “will be considered.”
“This is very early on in the investigation, so we don’t have any further information to provide,” Eames added in an email to the Star.
Police were at the scene of the Scarborough vehicle Tuesday morning, where a flatbed police tow truck and other vehicles obscured the view of what appeared to be a white sedan, possibly a hatchback, in a hydro field, set back from Reesor Road, just south of Steeles Ave. W. It’s a secluded, rural area of Scarborough, north of the Toronto Zoo, and near the Rouge River and a trailhead of the Rouge National Urban Park.
No homes or other buildings are anywhere near the spot.
An aerial photo from a CityNews drone showed the vehicle with its hood off, and rear driver side door ajar. There appeared to be fire damage.

Toronto police forensics were on scene, parked beneath towering hydro lines, beyond a police cruiser minding the entrance to a gravel road.
Just before 1 p.m., a police flatbed tow truck left the scene at Reesor Road with a vehicle secured under a tarp.
