Two Boyolali Residents Victims of KM Virgo Transport Sinking, Families Hope for Their Safe Recovery
BOYOLALI, KOMPAS.com - Denny and Danang, residents of Ampel District, Boyolali, Central Java, became victims of the sinking of the Motor Vessel (KM) Virgo Transport 8. Their families hope they will be found safe soon.
Denny's wife, Dewi Indrati (34), said she learned that her husband was involved in the KM Virgo Transport accident in the waters of South Kalimantan (Kalsel) on Sunday (13/9/2026) from one of Denny's friends, who is also a driver.
According to Dewi, her husband has worked as an inter-island expedition driver for quite some time.
"Regarding the cargo (packages) to there, it’s been quite a while. It just differs depending on the expedition company," she said in Boyolali, Central Java, Friday (18/9/2026).
Dewi stated that Denny left home to deliver packages to Banjarmasin on Thursday (10/9/2026) at 11:00 p.m. WIB.
"That was the last time he was with Mas Danang," she revealed.
According to Dewi, the last time she communicated with her husband was on Sunday (13/9/2026) at 12:40 a.m. WIB.
At that time, he contacted her via video call. But since she was already asleep, she didn’t answer. When she tried to call back, she couldn’t reach him.
"I didn’t pick up because I was asleep. Then when I called back, there was no answer and until now he can't be reached," she recalled.
She added that on Saturday (12/9/2026) afternoon, her husband sent a farewell message via WhatsApp saying he was about to board the ship.
She replied, but the message only showed one check mark.
"At midnight (Sunday early morning) the only reply was ‘dalem sayang’ (dear). Then at 12:40 a.m., the video call wasn’t answered anymore. I was already in bed. I tried calling back around 2:15 a.m.," she continued.
She hopes her husband will soon be found safely and reunited with their family.
"I hope he will be found safe and can come home again," she said.
Upon hearing that her husband’s ship capsized, Dewi immediately went to Surabaya to seek information.
