Specialist police are investigating the cause of a "serious" crash that has killed two pedestrians on the New South Wales far south coast overnight. Emergency services were called to Tura Beach, north of Merimbula, at about 9:30pm on Sunday after reports two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle.
Police said the two men, aged 70 and 55, died after being hit by a white Nissan Dualis SUV while walking along Pacific Way at night.
Police Southern Region Commander Assistant Commissioner Stephen Hegarty said specialist officers were sent to the scene on Sunday night to assist with investigations.
"We need to take our time to put an investigation together and make sure that everything that we need to do around that investigation is completed," he said.

Police could not confirm whether the pedestrians were walking on or beside the road at the time of the incident.
The 45-year-old female driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was uninjured, and taken to Bega's South East Regional Hospital for mandatory testing.
Assistant Commissioner Hegarty said police had not laid charges on Monday morning, but investigations into the cause of the crash were still in the early stages.
