Unfortunate that Veerashaiava-Lingayat community which worked for social justice has to seek justice now: Khandre

Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Eshwar Khandre on Sunday said that it was ironical that a community that workd for social justice in society is seeking justice now.

“There are poor families in the community like in other communities. They too should get justice. The sharanas worked for equality in society and supported every community through education and food,” he said, during the Veerashaiva-Lingayat Dharma Samrakshana convention here.

He, however, said that it is unfortunate that in the current times the community has to seek justice. “Some are sowing seeds of hatred between communities for their selfish gains,” he said, terming Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who was also present, of having a secular mindset.

On the occasion, Mr. Khandre also said that the Anubhava Mantapa coming up at a cost of ₹750 crore in Basavakalyan will be ready by the end of next year.

A number of Veerashaiva-Lingayat mutt seers and political leaders from the community were present.
