As tensions between Iran and the U.S. continue in the Middle East, U.S. President Donald Trump made remarks to Fox News regarding Iran ahead of his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. Trump stated, "Netanyahu wants to stay in the process regarding Iran. "

Iran must officially commit to not possessing nuclear weapons. Iran has essentially agreed that it will not possess nuclear weapons. I don’t want to strike power plants and bridges. We are currently in a very strong position against Iran. If no agreement is reached with Iran, we’ll go back and finish the job. Now is the right time for Iran to make a deal. Netanyahu wants to stay involved in the process regarding Iran. Iran came out and said, “We’re in talks.” Iran understands that it will never be able to possess a nuclear weapon.

Trump also said that if an agreement with Iran cannot be reached, Mount Kazma and other areas in Iran could be targeted. According to the AP, the mountain in question is known as a mountainous region located approximately 1.5 kilometers south of the Natanz Nuclear Enrichment Facility.

The world’s best cameras are focused on that area… I know exactly what’s going on at Kazma; it’s not a big problem. We’ve destroyed their nuclear facilities, and if we can’t reach an agreement, we’ll destroy Mount Kazma.

Mount Kazma is located one and a half kilometers from the Natanz Nuclear Power Plant. The mountain’s most notable feature is its hard granite structure. It is alleged that Iran has excavated to a depth of 80 to 100 meters beneath the mountain. The mountain’s total depth is reported to reach up to 600 meters.

It is stated that excavation work inside the mountain was first planned in 2007, but systematic excavations began in 2020.

It is alleged that Iran moved its key centrifuges into Mount Kazma—which is very close to the Natanz Nuclear Power Plant—to safeguard them following acts of sabotage carried out at the Natanz facility in 2020 and 2021.Indeed, it is noted that even the most advanced bunker-busting bombs cannot penetrate the mountain’s interior due to its granite structure.

Ali Akbar Salehi, former head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, also stated that his country, following the damage sustained by the Natanz Nuclear Plant in 2020 and 2021, the relocation of centrifuges was on the agenda to prevent a disruption in the production chain, and that they would be placed inside a mountain.

Although Salihi did not specify the location to which the centrifuges would be moved, it was speculated that, to prevent a disruption in the production chain, they were moved not to a remote area but inside Kazma Mountain.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi also stated that a third Iranian nuclear facility had been damaged during the 12-day war, adding that this facility, located near Isfahan, had not yet become operational at the time of the attack.

It was noted that Arakchi’s remarks further bolstered claims that the new plant was built deep within Mount Kazma.
