Usha Vance nearly falls while carrying newborn son off plane, no one helps
US Second Lady Usha Vance appeared to briefly stumble while stepping off a helicopter at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Monday, as she carried her nine-week-old son, Alec Neel Vance.
In a video circulating on social media, the Second Lady appeared to miss a step as she disembarked from the aircraft with Alec strapped to her in a baby carrier. She quickly regained her balance, smiled and composed herself before tending to the infant.
US Vice President James David Vance followed her off the helicopter, carrying their four-year-old daughter, Mirabel. The family then walked together towards the waiting aircraft that would take them to Anchorage.

According to a report by USA Today, the trip came as Vance headed to Alaska to campaign ahead of the midterm elections. He was scheduled to headline a Republican National Committee rally supporting Republican Senator Dan Sullivan’s re-election bid against Democrat Mary Peltola.
Before boarding Air Force Two, Vance explained that Usha and some of their children would be accompanying him. He also pointed out that the Alaska trip marked Usha’s visit to her 50th US state.
“This is Usha’s 50th state,” Vance said, joking that they were bringing their nine-week-old baby along for the 7.5-hour journey. He added that if he looked “haggard and stressed out” while delivering his speech later that evening, the long flight with a newborn would be the reason.
The Vances welcomed Alec on July 19 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.- Ends
