Valentina Shevchenko reacts to UFC 332 title fight: 'Don't get too comfortable' - MMA Junkie
Valentina Shevchenko kept a close eye on the UFC 332 title she vacated, and it sounds like she doesn't plan to be separated from it for long.
Minutes after Natalia Silva defeated Wang Cong by unanimous decision to earn UFC women's flyweight gold, Shevchenko (26-4-1 MMA, 15-3-1 UFC) let her thoughts be known in a post on X.
"Well deserved Natalia!" Shevchenko wrote. "Congratulations! It's my pleasure to know that UFC Champion's belt is now holding deserving martial artist - such as you are ! But don't get too comfortable — keep it warm, I'm coming soon for my belt!"
It's unclear when Shevchenko is expected to return to fighting. She's remained relatively quiet since the UFC announced she'd be vacating the belt due to injury. The extent of her injury is not known.
Shevchenko, 38, is one of the greatest female fighters of all time and far-and-away the most decorated flyweight in women's mixed martial arts history. Saturday's fight was the first title fight in division history that did not involve her.
Silva, 29, is on a 15-fight winning streak. It sounds as if the promotion may be lining up top contender Alexa Grasso to fight her next, but that remains to be seen.
