Vehicle with 54 unpaid e-challans found

Traffic police caught a vehicle carrying 54 outstanding e-challans worth more than Rs100,000 near Thokar Niaz Baig during checking of vehicles owned by government and semi-government departments.
Patrolling Officer Zahid checked the vehicle's e-challan record and found 32 traffic signal and 20 lane-line violations. The vehicle was released after the driver paid the fines.
The traffic police have written to government departments to clear pending e-challans. Cameras were being used to issue e-challans for more than 20 types of traffic violations.
The Lahore chief traffic officer said a crackdown against vehicles with fake, missing or tampered number plates would also continue.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Traffic Police have issued more than 383,000 challans during the 9ngoing year for misuse of pressure horns and continuous honking, including around 48,000 in Lahore. Commercial vehicle owners have been warned to remove pressure horns.
