Video: Couple elopes, woman's mother slaps, kicks man's father in UP

A video showing a man being allegedly beaten with slaps, kicks and slippers has surfaced on social media from Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district. The man is reportedly the father of a youth with whom a woman had left home.

The incident took place after the woman, who was recovered by police, appeared before a court and reportedly expressed her desire to live with the youth. Police recovered the woman on Wednesday. She was produced before a court on Thursday, where her statement was recorded.

According to sources, the woman spoke in favour of the youth and said, “I want to live with him.”

Following this, the woman’s mother allegedly confronted the youth’s father and assaulted him. The man was allegedly slapped, kicked and hit with slippers. A video of the incident has since surfaced on social media and is being widely circulated.

According to the information available, the woman’s mother left the spot in a Bolero after the alleged assault.

The video has brought attention to the dispute, while police are looking into the matter.

Circle Officer Sadar Yashpal Singh said police had no information about the incident and that neither side had submitted a complaint.

He said that if a written complaint is received, action will be taken according to law.- Ends
