Video: Haryana woman trapped in the middle of the river in Rishikesh, gets rescued

A 24-year-old woman was rescued by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) after she got trapped near the river flow area along the Neelkanth Road in Rishikesh on Saturday afternoon.

The incident took place in the Laxman Jhula police station area, beyond Garud Chatti on the Neelkanth route. The woman had reportedly descended from a hill and reached close to the river's flow area, where she became stranded and was unable to make her way back to safety.

According to the SDRF, information about the incident was received on Saturday, following which a team from SDRF Dhalwala reached the spot with rescue equipment. The team assessed the terrain and the woman's position before beginning the rescue operation.WOMAN TRAPPED NEAR RIVER FLOW AREA

The woman had been making her way down the hillside when she became trapped near the river's flowing section. She was frightened and was not in a position to climb back to the road on her own.

Given the terrain and the proximity of the river, SDRF personnel decided to carry out a rope rescue operation. Rescue personnel descended the hillside using ropes and other safety equipment to reach the woman.

The team first reassured her and explained the rescue process to ensure that she remained calm during the operation. SDRF personnel then secured her with safety equipment before carefully bringing her up the hillside.

The rescue operation required the team to work carefully because of the difficult terrain and the woman's proximity to the river flow. After considerable effort, the SDRF personnel managed to bring her safely back to the Neelkanth Road.
