Video: UP cop-couple smash car windows with rifle, rescue 5 trapped on highway
A police constable couple displayed remarkable courage and quick thinking after spotting a car that had overturned on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway and rescuing five people trapped inside.
The incident took place near the 171-km cut on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Uttar Pradesh. Constable Amit Teotia was travelling from Saurikh towards Kannauj with his wife, Archana Singh, when they noticed the overturned car by the roadside.
The couple immediately stopped their vehicle. As people remained trapped inside the car and cries for help could be heard, the constables sprang into action. The cop used Amitβs service rifle to break the carβs windows and, after considerable effort, pulled all five occupants out one by one to safety.
All five people injured in the accident were taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Saurikh, where they are undergoing treatment.
A video of the rescue operation later went viral on social media, drawing widespread praise for the constable coupleβs bravery, prompt response and presence of mind in rescuing the trapped passengers.- Ends
