Prince Harry fulfilled a promise to a Canadian centenarian veteran on Friday.

The Duke of Sussex parachuted out of a plane in Innisfil, Ont., to follow through on a pledge he made to Ed Marshall, a 102-year-old who served as a paratrooper during the Second World War.

Marshall, a resident of Toronto’s Sunnybrook Hospital, was one of several veterans Prince Harry met when he visited the facility last November.

“Ed amazed Prince Harry when he proudly recounted the fundraising skydive he completed to mark his 100th birthday,” Sunnybrook said on its website. “The idea stuck, and together, they devised a plan for another jump.”

Friday’s jump was done alongside other veterans and was done to raise funds for two veterans’ charities in Marshall’s honour, the hospital said. 

Marshall’s grandson, Bailey, was scheduled to “proudly carry on his grandfather’s fearless legacy” as part of the day.

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, returned to the United Kingdom along with their two children last month after spending six years in the United States.
