Leylah Fernandez has captured the hearts and minds of Canadians. Today is the biggest of her big days in her newfound spotlight.

Since the start of September, a 19-year-old from Montreal has put the entire sports world on notice while inspiring her country.

Leylah Fernandez has been one of the most talked about Canadians in the last week.

She’s put together a tournament run that saw her take down former US Open champions Naomi Osaka and Angelique Kerber and most recently defeating No. 5 ranked Elina Svitolina.

The fan favourite will face 18-year-old Emma Raducanu of Great Britain today with a chance to make history in the US Open Final. Start time is set for a 4 p.m. eastern.
