Water tanker kills father, critically injures son

Another ride to work turned fatal on Karachi's notoriously dangerous roads on Friday when a speeding water tanker rammed a motorcycle near Singer Chowrangi in Korangi, killing a father and critically injuring his son. The impact was so severe that 50-year-old Mahfooz Hussain Shah sustained fatal injuries, while his 25-year-old son, Qasim, was critically injured. The tanker driver fled the scene immediately after the crash, leaving the vehicle behind. The injured and the deceased were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where doctors pronounced Mahfooz dead and admitted Qasim in critical condition. The family said doctors had warned that the young man could lose the use of one hand. The father and son, residents of Bhains Colony Road No 8, were on their way to Defence when the accident occurred.
