Wedela tavern mass shooting: Gauteng police searching for 8 suspects - EWN

Gauteng police say a manhunt is underway for eight suspects wanted in connection with the deadly tavern shooting in Wedela on the West Rand. 

Police said they’ve managed to obtain clear photographs of the suspects, which could help investigators identify and trace them. 

The eight men are accused of opening fire on patrons at a tavern in Extension 3 on Saturday night. 

The incident claimed the lives of seventeen people, 13 men and four women were killed, while 15 others sustained gunshot wounds. 

The national forensic department is also on the scene, with police saying valuable evidence has been recovered as investigators work to piece together what happened. 

The suspects are alleged to have been armed with AK-47 rifles and pistols. 

Police said the motive for the attack remains unknown. 

No arrests have been made at this stage, but detectives and specialised units have been mobilised as the manhunt continues.
