Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP Kalisetti Appala Naidu, along with party observer P.V.G. Kumar on Thursday said that effective implementation of welfare schemes would help secure victory for TDP Mayor candidate Avanapu Bharagavi and the party’s candidates across the 62 divisions in Vizianagaram.
The leaders campaigned for the TDP candidates in the 54th ward despite the inclement weather, focusing on apartment residents during the final phase of the campaign.
The leaders citied welfare initiatives such as the ₹4,000 social security pension for elderly people, free bus facility for women, financial assistance for mothers under ‘Talliki Vandam,’ that would help the party win the civic elections.
Mr. Kumar alleged that the previous YSRCP Mayor and corporators had failed to develop the city during their five-year tenure.
He said that TDP MLA Aditi Vijayalakshmi had ensured developmental works such as improvement of road network, establishment of new electricity substations by mobilsing around ₹500 crore funds over the last two years.
Party senior leader Avanapu Vijay and others were present during the campaign.
