Ever looked at a traffic jam, a badly placed U-turn or a dangerous crossing and thought, “Why doesn't someone fix this?” Lucknow traffic police now want residents to do more than complain about it. Under the new Sahbhagita initiative, citizens can point out recurring traffic and road-safety problems and suggest possible solutions. The campaign uses a bilingual Google Form that can be accessed through a QR code.

Residents can flag problematic junctions, unsafe U-turns, pedestrian crossings, school-zone congestion and parking bottlenecks, along with photographs and location details. Screen grab from @lucknowtraffic post on X.  WHAT IS THE SAHBHAGITA INITIATIVE?

The Sahbhagita initiative is a citizen-participation campaign by Lucknow traffic police to identify traffic problems and find practical solutions.

Instead of simply reporting that a road is congested, residents can explain what is causing the problem and suggest how it could be addressed.

The initiative is also open to resident welfare associations, trade bodies, educational institutions, transport organisations and road-safety groups.WHAT CAN YOU REPORT?

For every location, users have to submit a separate form.WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUBMIT?

It is not just a complaint box. Citizens are asked to provide the location name, latitude and longitude, at least one clear photograph and details about when and how the problem occurs.

They can also upload marked photographs, maps or simple sketches to explain their proposed solution.HOW WILL LUCKNOW POLICE USE YOUR SUGGESTION?

Not every suggestion will automatically be implemented.

Traffic police will assess each proposal for road-safety impact, technical feasibility, existing standards and site conditions. Where necessary, the department will approach the relevant agency for technical examination, approvals and implementation.HOW TO SUGGEST A TRAFFIC FIX

SPOT IT: Identify a recurring traffic or road-safety problem and scan the QR code.

SNAP IT: Safely take a clear photograph.

PIN IT: Add the location and latitude/longitude.

SUGGEST IT: Explain the problem and propose a practical solution.

SEND IT: Submit the details through the Sahbhagita Google Form.- EndsPublished By: vaishnavi parasharPublished On: Sep 14, 2026 15:44 IST
