What's next for Alex Eala after the Pan Pacific Open? - GMA Network

As the curtains fall on her Pan Pacific Open campaign, Alexandra 'Alex' Eala now turns her attention to the remaining challenges on her calendar in hopes to put a strong finish to her 2026 season.

The 21-year-old Filipina sensation is set to compete in the WTA 250 Hong Kong Open set from November 2 to 8 for her final tournament of the year.

Aside from Eala, the Hong Kong Open will also feature the likes of Leylah Fernandez, Xinyu Wang, Jasmine Paolini, and Diana Shnaider, who had beaten her twice in as many tournaments in the last two weeks.

That is why Eala is bent on making the most of her time at the Hong Kong Open.

Eala is set to make her second consecutive appearance at the Hong Kong Open, where she reached the second round last year before falling to Victoria Mboko in a three-set battle.

But much has changed since that campaign, with the Filipina ace enjoying several career milestones and climbing the world rankings over the past year.

This year saw Eala capture her maiden WTA title in the Mubadala DC Open, where she defeated several big names on the way to the crown. She also reached the US Open third round and reached a career-high No. 18 in the WTA rankings.

Eala, though, has been having a challenging time in the Asian Swing.

She has fallen to lower-ranked opponents in the Singapore Open, Wuhan Open, Ningbo Open, and most recently, the Pan Pacific Open. Eala also absorbed a semifinals loss in the Asian Games, where she was touted as the gold medal favorite.

However, Eala has plenty of reasons to hold her head high as she returns to Hong Kong, eager to make another deep run and close out her season on a high note.
