When do you get your SSI check for November? See the schedule - USA Today
Those who get Supplemental Security Income checks shouldn't expect a benefit payment during the month of November. There's no trick involved.
Instead, a quirk of the calendar resulted in beneficiaries getting two checks in the month of October, with the one for November actually going out Friday, Oct. 30. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments are typically scheduled to be issued on the first day of the month, but sometimes payments go out early when the first calendar day of the month is a weekend or a holiday.
So a payment was issued Oct. 1 and then, since Nov. 1 is a Sunday, checks for November are scheduled to go out on Oct. 30, according to the Social Security Administration’s calendar. A similar schedule happens in December, when the January check will go out on Thursday, Dec. 31, because January 1 (New Year's Day) is a holiday.
Supplemental Security Income, which is administered by the Social Security Administration, provides benefits for those with limited or no income or resources, those ages 65 or older, and those who are blind or have a qualifying disability. Also eligible for SSI: children with a qualifying disability.
About 7.3 million Americans currently get monthly SSI payments, and about one-third of SSI recipients also get Social Security benefits, the SSA says. Working adults who earn more than $2,073 monthly typically do not qualify for SSI benefits.
To see if you are eligible for SSI, visit the Social Security website. You can also go in person to your local Social Security office or call 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time during the work week.
Supplemental Security Income, which is also administered by the SSA, is a benefit program for persons with limited or no income or resources, those 65 or older, those who are blind or have a qualifying disability, including children with a disability, according to the SSA website.
SSI recipients are typically issued payments on the first business day of the month – in November, that is Sunday, Nov. 1. Since it is a weekend, payments will be issued on the last business day of October, which is Friday, Oct. 30.
