When Will Rainy Season Begin for Bali? - Tempo.co English

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of Denpasar, warned residents and tourists alike of extreme weather potential during the rainy season in Bali, which is due to start late November and peak in February 2027.

Trayi Budi Samantu, a forecaster at the Bali Climatology Station, explained on Monday that the potential for higher-than-normal rainfall is attributed to the predicted shorter duration of the rainy season.

"With the predicted shorter-than-normal rainy season duration, these conditions will accumulate and could lead to higher-intensity rainfall," he said.

For most areas on the west, north, and east coasts of Bali, the rainy season is predicted to last an average of 10-15 decades (one decade is equal to 10 days). Even in the eastern region, including Nusa Penida, the rainy season is predicted to last 10-12 decades.

Meanwhile, in central Bali, the rainy season is expected to last longer, lasting 16-18 decades.

"So, most areas in will see a rainy season lasting until April 2026," he added.

He explained that the short rainy season forecast is fueled by El Nino, which brings a longer dry season in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the Bali Climatology Station predicts that rainfall in Bali will begin at the end of November 2026 in three seasonal zones (ZOM), representing 15 percent of the region: Banjar, Sukasada, Baturiti, Pupuan, Petang, and Payangan districts. Meanwhile, in the majority, or 85 percent, of the 17 ZOMs, the rainy season will begin in December.

Trayi added that in 100 percent of all 20 ZOMs in Bali, the rainy season will be delayed or later than normal.

"As many as 70 percent (of the ZOM) were delayed by three decades or more, with some even being delayed by six to seven decades," he added.

Meanwhile, the peak season mostly occurred in February 2026 in 16 seasonal zones in Bali.
