At a time when recruitments to government jobs are often delayed due to legal challenges over alleged corruption and nepotism by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has successfully issued notifications, conducted competitive examinations, and announced results for 7,905 posts across various cadres of the Police Department, all within four months.Β
The recruitment process for these posts is set to conclude in two more stages: conducting physical fitness test, and issuing appointment orders to eligible candidates. Consequently, candidates who have been waiting for government jobs for years are expected to join the Karnataka Police within the next three months.
After a break of many years, the State Government has announced plans to fill approximately 75,000 government posts over the next two years, temporarily resolving the internal reservation issue. It has roped in the KEA for recruitments this time, owing to the KPSC embroiled in controversies.Β
KEA began the process in June to fill 7,905 vacancies in the Police Department. A total of 8,68,985 candidates from across Karnataka applied for these posts. The KEA conducted the competitive examination between August 2 and September 20, with 7,13,662 candidates appearing for the test. The KEA announced the results between August 21 and September 25, and the recruitment process has now reached its final stage.
H. Prasanna, Executive Director of KEA, told The Hindu, βThe government had directed that recruitment examinations be conducted on a war footing. We have completed the process in four months. Notably, the results for the KSRP, KSISF, and IRB constable posts were declared within a week of the examination.βΒ
βThere isnβt a single complaint or court case regarding the exam. There are no grievances concerning exam irregularities. There were no translation errors in the question paper. Consequently, no lapses occurred on the part of KEA or the student community. We conducted the exam in a disciplined manner, ensuring there was no room for confusion,β he stated.
βTo ensure candidates had no doubts about the exam, we uploaded the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets on the website on the very day the exam was held. We announced the results within a week of the examβs conclusion. For the first time, we announced the results along with the categories claimed by all candidates. These candidates will secure employment within the next three months,β Mr. Prasanna informed.
Purushottama N. R., a job aspirant from Bengaluru, said, βI am a graduate and have been preparing for a government job for the past six years. I had applied for the posts of Civil Police Constable and KSRP Police Constable. It is surprising that the KEA conducted the exam so quickly and released the results without any controversy or confusion. Having passed this exam, if I clear the physical test, I expect to join the Police Department in another three months.β
