Chad Lowe has been a fixture in Hollywood for decades, but now his family is coming under the spotlight.
The Emmy-winning director and actor, 58, is facing tragedy following the death of his 13-year-old daughter, Fiona Lowe. Lowe and his wife, Kim Painter, announced their daughter's death in a joint statement to People magazine on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
A cause of death for the teen was not disclosed. As part of their statement, Lowe and Painter shared the national suicide and crisis helpline: "If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988."
"We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona," Lowe and Painter said. "She was adored by her sisters, and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family, and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time."

Lowe is best known for his young adult role on the '90s teen drama "Life Goes On." He joined the ABC series, starring Kellie Martin, Chris Burke and Patti LuPone, for the show's third season in 1991 and remained until its 1993 conclusion.
Lowe's performance as Jesse McKenna earned him an Emmy Award for outstanding supporting actor in a drama series. The actor's other notable roles include Carter Gallavan on "Melrose Place," Dr. George Henry on "ER," Byron Montgomery on "Pretty Little Liars" and Thomas Coville on "Supergirl."
As a director, Lowe has helmed several television shows, including "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Without a Trace," "Bones," "Pretty Little Liars," "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" and "9-1-1."
Lowe is the younger brother of Emmy-nominated actor and Brat Pack star Rob Lowe. He is four years Rob's junior.
Lowe married Kim Painter in August 2010, three years after his divorce from first wife Hilary Swank.
Like Lowe, Painter also works in the entertainment industry, having taken positions as a TV producer, still photographer and casting director. Her credits include "Ted Bundy," "Conversations from the Edge with Carrie Fisher" and "Instant Dads."
Lowe and Painter welcomed Fiona, their second child, in November 2012. The couple also shares daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie Barbara, 10.
