Introducing Naarm’s Bite My Tongue, a recently formed four piece band that according to their triple j Unearthed page are blending a cup of the light side of indie with a dose of heavy rock: “What if Spacey Jane decided to become Emo? What if The Cure were formed in Brunswick? What if Hoobastank didn’t have a reason?”

For their recently released debut EP, Bite My Tongue leans into their love for 2000s emo with a music video for their track ‘Threads’, which gets the jet-black eyeline seal of approval for its tear down of an evil industry-authority character and for randomly cutting to someone two-dancing sweatily.

From the minds of puppet masters Hugo Rutten (Director of Photography) and Callum Moore (Director), Threads took only a small team and a single day on a beautiful powerline paddock to execute the vision.

“The video came together really quick,” says Hugo. “I pitched it to Bite My Tongue and they loved the idea. I then took it to Callum to direct and he was on board! He then took the pitch and turned it up to 11!

Callum adds “This project really felt like a bit of fun with mates. Hugo brought me on to the project after it had been pitched, and the first thing that came to mind was how fun it’d be to drive a car through a set. So that’s what we did.

“We purchased the ute for $500 and drove it to the set. It made it all but 100m from its destination before it refused to go any further, and so we had it towed to the top of the hill and had the Bite My Tongue guys push it back down. It was ridiculous!”

On top of that, wild weather on the property meant that the set you see the band performing on while being puppeted broke apart. Despite all the chaos of being on set though, the band are stoked with how Callum and Hugo were able to bring their track about relationships and vulnerability to life:

“We had heaps of fun making the video. The crew has done such an incredible job at interpreting and complementing the overall track. Couldn’t be prouder to have worked with them! Rage is a show that we all grew up on and brings back heaps of nostalgic memories. We are thrilled to have our track shared on the show.”
